Lift Adventure Date: August 5

Lift Adventure Time: 5:00 PM EST

We finally did it. Our first hybrid production. A production that has both in-person & virtual lift videos filmed in Skyscrapersim. For this lift adventure, two lifts were filmed in person (one in Rahway & one in Union) & two in Skyscrapersim. The two Skyscrapersim lifts will not be featured in this text review.

Union

Time Filmed: Morning (August 3)

Grade: B

Speed to Height Ratio: 4.46:1

Landings Served: 6

I had an important event to attend at school the day I filmed this lift, which gave me the oppotunity to revisit this great, rough-riding modern Otis Gen2 with newer Series 2 fixtures lighting in blue with blue LCD floor indicator screens. The cab is quite interesting with symmetrical polished wood & stainless steel, with stainless steel handrails, a stainless steel drop ceiling with white circular LED lights & plain-colour base.

Due to the wear & tear in this lift, it has gained quite some run character from the time it was installed. Outstanding characterful elements included moderately rough starts, shaky & bumpy ride & moderate shaft noises. This is a very fast lift as it has a speed to height ratio of 4.46:1 over 6 landings. Upon analyzing the character of this lift & the efficiency analysis, I decided to assign a grade of "B" to this lift.

Rahway

Time Filmed: Evening (August 3)

Grade: C

Speed to Height Ratio: 2.4:1

Landings Served: 6

Unfortunately, I could not get into the skyscraper next door. However, what I did find was this very rarely configured OTIS Series 1 hydraulic lift. Looking at the pictures below, you can clearly see three columns of buttons, which is what you would normally see on a traction panel, not on a hydraulic panel. However, I knew this lift was hydraulic due to the pushing motion beneath me as opposed to a pulling motion along with the usual rough starts & stops you would expect on a hydraulic lift. The cab is nothing to write home about & is basic standard with a glassback wall.

The single characterful element with this lift was the bouncy start going down. This is a moderately fast lift with a speed to height ratio of 2.4:1 over 6 landings. Upon analyzing the character of this lift & the efficiency analysis, I decided to assign a grade of "C" to this lift.

I look forward to seeing you on the premiere at 5:00 PM EST this afternoon.
