The Stamford Lift Galore of August 2021

The Rising Salamander Academy

The Dover/Otis Lift

The first lift is a 1980's OTIS lift modernised by Dover. It is still using its original OTIS 211 LRV controller & original submersible hydraulic motor. It got considerably rough over the years & the "ground floor" button got worn out. This is an epic & awesome lift which overshoots the floor on the top floor due to a misaligned positioning system which needs readjustment. It has a rough but characterful ride quality due to the uneven acceleration & constant bouncing & vibrating going up & down & it plops into place when finished accelerating downward. This lift has extreme intelligent leveling & has a very weird flat Series 1 floor indicator. Only the internal buttons were replaced since. This lift rates 4.4 stars on the General Chicago Lift Character Report.

The Schindler High Speed Lifts

Originally 1980's OTIS Elevonic 401 lifts, these lifts got tastefully modernised by Schindler with new fixtures & a new controller while keeping the original OTIS Elevonic 401 machines. Like the carpark lift, these lifts used to have the original Series 1 buttons but they've been modernised with new Monitor PC buttons later on. These lifts are very fast as they travel 350' per minute (mid-rise cruiser) & have noticeably jolty & quick startups & level very quickly as expected for a Schindler lift. One of the lifts had a misaligned door mechanism making it very uncomfortable to ride but it just added to the character. Another had a broken alarm & the third bounced while decelerating. While these could be maintained better, they were none the less great lifts full of run character & they did not disappoint. This lift rates 4 stars on the GC Lift Character Report.
